Membership in the International Society for Otitis Media

 

Membership in ISOM is open to anyone with an interest in otitis media, including, but not limited to, physicians, non-physician healthcare providers, allied health professionals, researchers, basic scientists, students in training, guideline developers, and those involved in public health or health policy.

Benefits of membership include the ability to vote, participate in committees, seek leadership positions, network with other members, and qualify for discounted registration and banquet fees for future biannual symposia (starting in 2015).  Most importantly, as a charter member you will have the opportunity to shape the society’s early direction, web presence, newsletter, committees, and educational offerings.

MEMBERS
Members may belong to any discipline related to Otitis Media and will be classified as Charter, Active, Senior, Honorary, and Student members.
CLASSIFICATION OF MEMBERS - The member classifications are defined as follows:
Charter Member
• Any non-student member who has joined the Society prior to June 30, 2015 and will have all of the
   rights noted below under Active Member
 
Active Member
• Shall have been proposed by two voting members of the Society.
• Shall have the right to attend business meetings, vote, hold office, and propose candidates for
   membership.
• Shall pay dues.
 
Senior Member
• Shall have been an active member and have reached the age of 70 years.
• Shall have the right to remain an active member or choose senior status.
• Shall have the right to attend business meetings, vote, and propose candidates for membership, 
   but may not hold office.
• Shall have the option of electing to pay no dues or nominal dues based on their employment
    status.
 
Honorary Member
• Shall be an individual with distinction in a scientific field related to Otitis Media.
• Shall be recommended by two voting members and approved by Council majority.
• Shall have the right to attend scientific sessions.
• Shall not have the right to vote, propose candidates for membership, or hold office.
• Shall pay no dues.
 
Student Member
• Shall be a student "in training" in any discipline related to Otitis Media.
• Shall have the right to attend scientific sessions.
• Shall not have the right to vote.
• Shall pay dues as determined by the Council.
• Shall be for a maximum of 4 years after which continued status as a student must be
   demonstrated.
 
ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP DUES AND TERMS SUSPENSION OF MEMBERSHIP
ANNUAL DUES. Members shall be obliged to pay annual dues. A membership will not be effective until payment of the appropriate annual membership dues has been received by the Society.

SUSPENSION OF MEMBERSHIP FOR NONPAYMENT OF DUES. Nonpayment of dues for two (2) consecutive years will result in suspension of membership, which can be reinstated by payment of the arrears in dues. For example, if an individual does not pay dues for 2 years but in year 3 wishes to be reinstated, he may be reinstated by paying the 2 years in arrears plus the current dues for the 3rd year.
